The Mind-Muscle Connection

As a Certified Personal Fitness Trainer and avid exercise buff, I've immersed myself in all that illicits that feeling that I can only describe as the best drug ever - the exercise-induced endorphin rush. This high is SO good, SO complete, and SO good for you, I have determined that every client I take on MUST have the experience, or I have not done my job. The problem, however, is that it takes a focused and determined intent to reach these endorphin heights...it takes the Mind-Muscle Connection.

Anyone with normal capability can pick up a weight and move it, put one foot in front of the other and walk, or put their arms overhead and reach for the sky; but can they feel the fibers of their muscles contract when they hoist that dumbbell; can they stretch their legs long as they step out; can they put space between their vertebrae as they stretch for the heavens? When a person learns how to tie their thoughts and emotions to their physical being, to mentally focus on the mechanics of the incredible machine that is their body, they are starting to get it.
